Toyota MR2

The Toyota MR2 was a small two seater rear engine sports car. The MR2 was made from 1984-2007. In that time frame three generations where made: W10, W20, W30. The first generation, W10 was made from 1984-1989. This was a car that no one suspected from Toyota. At the time Toyota was only making practical and family cars so to release a sports car seemed odd. It so happens that they new what they where doing. The W10 weigh as little as 2,350 lbs in the US and since it weighed so little it was a handling demon. The W10 MR2 had a four cylinder 1.6 L engine that produced 112hp with a 0-60mph time in about eight seconds and a 1/4 mile in about 16 seconds.
The Next generation was the W20. It was made from 1989-1999. The W20 was a bit larger than the previous generation and weighed about 350-400 pounds more. However like the W10 it was still very successful with some times being referred to has the "poor mans Ferrari." The new MR2 also had a new engine that was a 2.0L with 130hp. With the extra power the W20 could do 0-60mph in about 6 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 14 seconds.
When October of 1999 came around Toyota released the last of the MR2 breed with the W30. It was lighter than all the other models but came standard as a convertible. Even with a 1.8L 138hp engine the car still only weighed 2,195 lbs. 0-60mph times where also decent at about 6 seconds. But like all good things the MR2 had to come to an end in July of 2007.
