Ferrari 458 Italia

The Ferrari 458 Italia is a mid-engine rear wheel drive sports car. It was first unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show on 15 September 2009. The 458 has a 4.5 liter engine with 562 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque and is the first mid-engine Ferrari with direct fuel injection. The 458 is fitted with a standard dual-clutch 7-speed transmission, similar to the Ferrari California. With the 562 hp and a curb weight of 3,274 lb the 458 can go from 0-60 mph in about 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph.. It can go back down from 60 mph to zero in about 107 ft with the help of ABS. The 458 was also reviewed  on Top Gear, where it received acclaim for its styling and performance. In a drag race against the predecessor of the 458 the Ferrari F430, it won by a considerable margin. The car also lapped the Top Gear test track in 1:19.1, just 0.1 seconds slower than Ferrari's super car the Enzo. Altho it cost $220,000 if you have the money to spare its a great choice.

Nissan Leaf

The Nissan Leaf (Leading, Environmentally friendly, Affordable, Family car) is an all electric five seater hatchback. It was introduced in Japan and the U.S on December 2010. It has a range of 138 miles using 34 kW-h/100 mi. Nissan says the top speed is 93 mph and the electric motor has 112 hp. Under the middle of the car is a 24 kWh lithium ion battery that powers the electric motor. T charge the Leaf at home a 240 volt is required. It cost $2,000 to instal so you might want to think about that. There is a solar panel mounted on the spoiler in the SL package. Also the headlights, which are LEDs, move the air away from the mirrors to reduce drag and wind noise. With 14 cu.ft. of cargo space and a base price of $27,700 this is a great city car.

Toyota FJ40 and FJ Cruiser

Toyota first started work on the first J model in 1951 with the BJ. The BJ was meant just for the Korean War and was not for civilians until the 20 series came out in 1955. Toyota changed the name over to FJ. It shined until 1960, when the 40 series came out. The 40 had an all new 125 hp 3.5 liter F engine with low range gearing. The 40 lasted for 24 years, selling over 300,000. In 1967, the 50 series, or the "Moose," was released. It was a four-door wagon that took on the spot of the 40 series wagon. In 1980, the 50 series stepped down and Toyota brought in the 60 series. It was a great upgrade to the 50 series, offering things like air-conditioning and a rear heater and an upgraded interior. The 2F engine was still the same as the 40 series, but a new six-cylinder 4.0 liter 2H and a four-cylinder 3.4 L 3B diesel engine were added to the 60 series. As the same time as the 60 series was introduced, the 70 series was brought to the product line. While the 60 series stopped in 1990, the 70 series is still sold in countries like Japan. In 1990, the 80 series was introduced with the first of the Land Cruiser line offering more luxury and a bigger price tag. The Land Cruiser is still made today, but is more luxurious than the rugged, invincible "J" it was at first.

To even out the luxury Land Cruiser, Toyota made an all new FJ, the FJ Cruiser. It's a shorter 4Runner with more off road ability than the Land Cruiser. With a water forging level of 27 inches and the handling of a sports car, it's a perfect balance to the Land Cruiser line.

Fisker Karma

The Fisker Karma recently made its first big debut at the North American International Auto Show. The Karma is a hybrid. It produces 403 hp from a 2.2 liter gas engine and two electric motors that that get their power from a 22 kWh lithium-ion battery or the gas engine that also acts as a generator. The power from the electric motors and gas engine gets to the wheels by a Q-Drive hybrid transmission which is supplied by Quantum Technologies. The Karma can do a surprising 0-60 mph time in 6.3 seconds and a limited top speed of 124 mph. It does that all with a weight of 5300 lbs and being able to carry four people. The electric range is 50 miles with a total range of 300 miles. When comparing it to the Tesla Model S, the Model S can go 300 miles on one charge and is purely electric. One more thing is the base price on the Karma is $95,900, the Model S base price is $49,900.
